According to a report by Naija News, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi, has been accused of acting like the military during the June 12 election that saw MKO Abiola emerge as the winner.
Bayo Onanuga, the media aide to the president-elect, made this assertion on Twitter.
On Tuesday, Obi and LP filed their petition with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), listing Bola Tinubu, Shettima Kashim (vice president-elect), and their party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), as respondents.
Obi demanded a fresh conduct of the 2023 presidential election and requested that the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) cancel the February 25 polls and order the conduct of a new one.
Onanuga reacted to Obi’s move by stating that the LP flag bearer is seeking the annulment of Tinubu’s election, just like the military annulled MKO Abiola’s election in 1993.
He added that the Tinubu camp would meet Obi in court, saying “Peter Obi of the Labour Party seeks the annulment of the election of President-elect Bola Tinubu just like the military annulled MKO Abiola’s election of 12 June 1993. Team Tinubu will certainly meet you (Obi) in court.”
