Chinese President Xi Jinping Visits Russia to Address International Issues

On March 20, 2023, Chinese President Xi Jinping arrived in Moscow and spoke to reporters about his upcoming discussions with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

TASS reports that Xi Jinping expects to address “international issues” and “outline a plan for the development of strategic cooperation” during his visit.

The Chinese president also expressed his readiness to defend international law alongside Russia, saying that in a world that is far from calm, China is prepared to resolutely defend the UN-centric international system with Russia.

He emphasized the importance of upholding the world order based on international law and fundamental norms of international relations, based on the purposes and principles of the UN Charter.

Xi Jinping’s visit to Russia will last three days, concluding on March 22.

The Kremlin previously announced that Putin and Xi will sign “a number of important bilateral documents” as a result of their talks.
