The Federal High Court in Port Harcourt, capital of Rivers State, has granted bail to Chinyere Igwe, a representative of Port Harcourt Federal Constituency 2 in the National Assembly. The bail amount is set at N100,000.
Justice Stephen Daylop-Pam, the trial judge, ruled on the bail application and ordered Igwe to submit his international passport to the Nigerian Immigration Service.
As reported by DAILY POST, the case has been adjourned until May 4, 2023, when the trial will begin.
Igwe was taken into custody by the police on February 24, 2023, after he was found carrying $498,000 during a stop-and-search operation. He faces charges of money laundering.
