iOS-inspired Galaxy S23 photos feature expected to trickle down to two older phones

iOS-inspired Galaxy S23 photos feature expected to trickle down to two older phones

Now that the dust has settled on the Galaxy S23 series’ announcement, it’s not unreasonable to expect Samsung to endow older Galaxy models with some software features that debuted on its latest flagship phone. Samsung had previously rolled out the Galaxy S23 exclusive Pause USB Power Delivery feature to older phones and it’s reportedly now gearing up to bring the Image Clipper feature to some older devices.
The Galaxy S23’s Image Clipper feature lets you lift a subject from a photo by tapping and holding on it. Of course, dedicated apps can also be used to cut out subjects from a photo, but having this capability built into the Gallery app is infinitely more convenient. The cut-out picture can be shared instantaneously or you can just save it as an individual file with transparent background.
Leaker @GaryeonHan said back in February that the feature would be rolled out to the Galaxy S22, S21, S20, Note 20, Z Fold 4, Flip 4, Fold 3, Flip 3, Fold 2, Flip 5G, and Flip.

Tipster @Tech_Reve today tweeted that the Galaxy S22 and Galaxy S21 will get this feature with the April update (via SamMobile). Owners of other top Samsung phones will likely have to wait a little longer for this fun feature.
The Image Clipper feature is similar to a feature introduced with iOS 16 for the iPhone. It allows users to lift objects instantly from a photo with a single finger and share it in other documents and apps.
The April update is also expected to fix the Exynos vulnerability that could allow hackers to take over the Galaxy S22 using a victim’s phone number.
