President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his eagerness to hand over power to the president-elect, Bola Tinubu, after the conduct of the 2023 general elections.
He made this known during a farewell meeting with the outgoing United States Ambassador, Mary Beth Leonard, held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja on Tuesday.
President Buhari stated that he cannot wait to retire to his hometown in Daura, Katsina State, where he plans to work on his farms and take care of his cattle.
He also revealed his plan to become a big landlord back at home, tending to over 300 animals.
During the meeting, President Buhari commended the outgoing ambassador for her enormous achievements in Nigeria-US relations during her three-and-half years in office
. The American ambassador, in turn, expressed her satisfaction with the progress made in Nigeria-US relations, citing the institution of a five-year visa regime, active collaboration in security and the supply of military hardware, and cooperation in the health sector to fight HIV and COVID response as some of her achievements in office.
