Zhyrokhov cited a recent incident in which a well-known Russian military blogger was executed at a checkpoint by Wagner mercenaries after he threatened to report them to their superior.

“Not long ago there was an incident when a well-known Russian military blogger was simply executed at a checkpoint,” said Zhyrokhov.

“And everyone understands that the Wagnerites did it when he said he would complain about them to Prigozhin. His proximity to Prigozhin played very poorly for him.”

Zhyrokhov notes that this is not an isolated incident, pointing out that similar incidents are commonplace in occupied Ukrainian territories. The Wagner gangs operate without regard to international laws or the laws of the Russian Federation, using violence to establish their own rules.

“These Wagner gangs are uncontrolled, they received weapons and therefore establish order, their own laws which do not correlate with the laws of the Russian Federation and common human values,” he added.

In mid-January, Ukrainian presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak said that Wagner recruited 38,244 Russian prisoners for the war, 29,543 of whom were killed, injured, captured, or went MIA in Ukraine.
