Legendary Italian goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has recently named Petr Cech, the former goalkeeper of Chelsea, as one of the best keepers he has ever played against.
Buffon, who currently plays for Serie B side Parma, acknowledged Cech’s strength during his playing days as a professional footballer.
When asked whether he himself was the best goalkeeper ever, Buffon replied that he doesn’t like to make such claims.
He stated that he has faced many strong goalkeepers, but not everyone had the same luck as he did, so they cannot be judged similarly.
Nonetheless, he acknowledged that Petr Cech was truly one of the best ever.
Petr Cech made 494 appearances during his time at Chelsea and recorded 228 clean sheets.
He played a crucial role in Chelsea’s triumphant 2011-12 UEFA Champions League campaign, including saving winger Arjen Robben’s penalty in extra time.
Cech also won several Premier League titles during his time in England.
