Toyota GAZOO Racing South Africa (TGRSA) has announced that it will participate in the Nkomazi 400 race, which marks the first round of the South African Rally-Raid Championship (SARRC) and will take place in Malalane, Mpumalanga this weekend.
The team will enter three Toyota Hilux race cars in the FIA T1+ class, and defending champion Giniel de Villiers will partner with co-driver Denis Murphy to defend his title.
The Nkomazi 400 race will cover a distance of just over 400km and begin with a 65km qualifying race on Friday, 24 March.
The main event will occur on Saturday, 25 March, and fans can follow the action on TGRSA’s social media channels or via the RallySafe app.
TGRSA Team Principal Glyn Hall has expressed confidence in the team’s drivers and the reliability of their Dakar-winning Hilux vehicles, stating that their primary goal is to gain some points on the board and gauge their performance against their main competitors.
The weather forecast for the weekend predicts sunny conditions with temperatures expected to reach up to 30°C, making for a promising start to the 2023 SARRC season.
Enthusiasts are encouraged to follow TGRSA on social media or via the RallySafe app to stay updated on the team’s progress during the Nkomazi 400.
