Victor Nosa Omoregie, the Labour Party candidate for Ovia North East Constituency, has resigned from his party membership following an unsuccessful run in the recent State House of Assembly election.
Omoregie announced his resignation in a statement to journalists on Monday, citing his perception by Labour Party members as a mole for the Peoples Democratic Party as the reason for his departure.
Omoregie expressed his grievance over leaving the Labour Party, stating that he was never truly accepted by its members. He claimed that party officials in the state believed he was not working in the party’s best interest.
The former candidate explained that the Labour Party leadership took various measures to undermine him, including causing confusion about his candidature. He emphasized that the party’s presence in Edo does not reflect the will of the people.
Omoregie said, “I contested the election under the ticket of the Labour Party but was never genuinely accepted into the party as I was regarded as a mole and agent working for PDP.”
